R.o.C. - Rite of Confirmation
"Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit...in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of the Christian life. To this end catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church, as well as the parish community." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1309)
The ROC Confirmation Program at St. Patrick is available to any high school teen in 9th - 12th grade who has already received Baptism, First Communion, and First Reconciliation.
Confirmation is not "graduation" from religious education, nor is it meant teach everything there is to know about being Catholic, but instead should flow out of a young person's active participation in the faith, through what they learn in the family and in the faith community. Here at St. Patrick, the LIFE TEEN is the format for religious education and all high school teens are strongly encouraged to participate so that Confirmation preparation can reinforce what they are already learning.
